What you get, and what it costs
One price for tutoring, executive functioning coaching and SAT/ACT prep. Every session is one-on-one, with an educator matched to your student for that subject, in your home on the Peninsula or online. For some families it costs nothing: see if you qualify.
What you get
People who know their subject and love teaching it
Teachers and specialists, including Stanford and UC Berkeley graduates and master's and doctoral degrees in education and school psychology, chosen for your student by our founder.
Better grades, and the subject itself
One-on-one help in the class your student is in right now, paced to what's due this week, so the next test shows it.
Skills that outlast the semester
Time management, study skills, and how to talk to a teacher about what they need. The habits that make school easier for the rest of their life.

If your student isn't happy after the first session, you don't pay for it.
What comes with every session
- A written plan from your free assessment
- A monthly progress note from your educator
- 60-minute sessions in your home on the Peninsula, or online
- A short note after each session on what was covered and what comes next
- If the match is not right, one free re-match
How it works
- Free assessment. A conversation about your student, their school and what's getting in the way. Text, call or book a time.
- A match, usually within a week. Our founder picks the educator who fits, from a team of teachers and specialists with master's and doctoral degrees in education and school psychology. You meet them before the first session, and if it isn't right, we'll find someone else at no charge. If a match will take longer, we tell you on the call.
- First session. 60 minutes in your home or online, then the same time every week.
No pitch on the call. If we're not the right fit for your student, we'll say so.
What parents say
My kid is an introvert so after school programs & Kumon tutoring did not work out for him. We decided to try 1 on 1 & found PLATO+. IT IS WORTH IT!!!
He is highly professional, reliable, and has a remarkable ability to connect with my son, making each session engaging and productive.
What each service does
Subject tutoring
One-to-one help in math, science, English, humanities, Spanish and computer science, from middle school through AP, paced to your student's class.
Subject tutoring →Executive functioning coaching
Coaching for the skills school expects but rarely teaches: study skills, planning and time management, organizing work and materials, starting and finishing tasks, and speaking up with teachers. It is built for students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia and other learning differences, and for any student whose organization has not kept up with school. The goal is a system that fits how your student thinks, so the skills hold after the semester ends.
Executive functioning coaching →SAT/ACT prep
One-to-one SAT and ACT prep built on a diagnostic, strategy and targeted practice toward your student's goal score.
SAT/ACT prep →Which one?
- Want to try one session first? Flex.
- Want a weekly time held, and the freedom to cancel any time? Membership. Most families start here, once a week.
- Know you'll stay through the term? Semester: the same weekly time for $15$15 less a session. Join any time.
Could Plato+ be free for your family?
For some families, yes. A school district that owes services under an IEP, a Regional Center Self-Determination budget, homeschool charter funds or an employer stipend can pay for some or all of it. Two quick questions tell you whether it's worth asking, and we help with the paperwork.
See if you qualifyA few questions
How soon will we see a difference?
With executive functioning coaching, most families see real change within two or three months. For the SAT or ACT, most students need 8 to 12 sessions. With subject tutoring, you'll usually see it on the next test.
Can we take a break?
Yes. Cancel any time; your Membership runs through the end of the period you've already paid for. If you're just away for a while, you can hold your weekly time for half your 4-week price. A semester can end early too. Leave early any time; past sessions are rebilled at the Membership rate. Flex has nothing to cancel.
Can we use an FSA, HSA or a work benefit?
Every session is itemized on your receipt. FSA and HSA plans may reimburse it when a doctor recommends the help for a diagnosed learning disability, and some employers' family stipends cover tutoring. Your plan decides, and if they need anything else from us, just text us.
